Back in the day, when DJ-ing in NYC was pretty much a boys club, Dina Regine was one of a handful of top female DJs taking charge of the decks at the major clubs in Manhattan. Regine began her club journey back in the 80s, getting hired in London to spin in NYC at a private club called Joanna's on 21st street. It was there she worked her craft and eventually landed a longtime residency at Heartbreak. The legendary star studded Monday nights at Heartbreak promoted by Frankie Scinlaro put Regine's name on the map, garnering her countless celebrity private parties & Galas, as well as being the 'ear' for many record companies on new releases. Regine had her debut on MTV with Mick Hucknell from Simply Red, spinning a night of soul music together. She continued the Monday Night residency at the China Club, and Au Bar after Heartbreak closed. In 1998 when Amy Sacco opened the super-hip lounge/restaurant Lot 61, she hired her buddy Regine come in to be Music Supervisor & DJ, and create a cool/sexy vibe for the massive room. From the vibes of Portishead & Thievery Corp., to deep Soul cuts and Indie Rock, Dina had the room feeling all warm and fuzzy from day one. "And the celebs flooded in, Meg Ryan, Melissa Ethridge, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jude Law, Kevin Costner, Kevin Spacey, Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz have all flocked to the new bar" NY Post. Regine's other long term residencies include Limelight, Webster Hall, Berlin, Le Bar Bat, and Ethyl's. Dina Regine's name often comes up, not only as a trailblazer for woman DJs in NYC, but also as one of the 'go to' gals in town to rock a high profile event.
From old school classics to contemporary music, lounge and dance, Regine is still doing guest spots all around Manhattan with her 'open format' style in between her private event work.
Dina Regine is also a performing musician and songwriter with several songs presently on the radio, as well as TV, and Movie placements with her music. Her song 'Gotta Tell You' was featured in Lilyhammer, and most recently her song 'Dial My Number' opened up TNF NFL/Amazon Prime Thursday Night Football NY Jets vs Cleveland Browns game in December 2023 to over ten million viewers.
